Finding the studs in San Bruno's postwar houses

Developer George Williams built hundreds of San Bruno homes in the late 1940s and early 1950s, for military support personnel and veterans back from World War II, starting with the Mills Park Addition. Building in the western half kept going through the 1960s and 1970s. Walls from those decades can be plaster or early drywall, and each takes a different anchor, so we find the framing before a bracket goes up.
