Most drywall damage is small and loud: a doorknob hole, a nail pop that shows under the afternoon light, a crack running up from the corner of a door. The repair itself is simple. The finish is what people notice, and a flat patch in the wrong texture looks worse than the hole did.
So most of the work is in the last coats. We feather the compound wide, sand between coats and match the texture on the wall around it, smooth, orange peel or knockdown, before primer and paint.
Ceiling cracks usually follow the drywall seams or come from movement and old leaks. We make sure a stain is dry and its source is fixed before closing anything up. Painting over a live leak only moves the problem.

Questions people ask
Can you match my wall texture?
Usually, yes. We test the texture on the patch before painting. On very old or hand-troweled walls a perfect match isn't always possible, and we'll tell you before we start.
Do you paint after the repair?
Yes. Patches get primer and paint. When the existing paint is old and won't blend, repainting the wall corner to corner is often the cleaner result, and we'll quote both ways.
My ceiling has a water stain. Can you fix it?
Once the leak is fixed and the area is dry, yes. We cut out soft drywall, replace it, tape, texture and paint. If the leak is still active, a plumber or roofer has to stop it first.
How long does a drywall patch take?
Joint compound needs to dry between coats, so most patches take two or three short visits over a couple of days. Small holes can be done in one visit with quick-setting compound.
Do you repair plaster walls?
Yes. Many older homes around San Francisco have lath and plaster instead of drywall. Small cracks and holes are patched in place; larger sections are cut back and filled.
