Whether you are helping aging parents stay independent or making the house easier for someone with limited mobility, the Home Safety Visit is the place to start. We walk through the bathroom, the steps and the doors with you and the person who lives there, and install the first grab bars where they will actually be used.

A grab bar is only as good as what holds it. Every bar goes into framing or into anchors rated for the load, never into bare drywall or tile alone, and we drill tile with the right bits so it doesn't crack.

We serve San Francisco, Atherton, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Mateo and the communities around them. Book the visit online with your address and a preferred day and time, or text photos of the area to (650) 784-2770.

Bigger changes, like turning a tub into a walk-in shower or widening a doorway, usually need a permit. Those are contracted through our licensed partner, Bay Builder Inc (CSLB #1145538), so the paperwork matches the job.

J&J and Junior and crew provides great Handyman services and support especially for seniors that need a little excellent home maintenance for a reasonable price. Junior and crew repaired and caulked my upstairs shower pan to its shower wall and helped mme clean up my roof deck by cleaning up leafe debris. They were prompt and knowledgeable and honest about their estimates to complete the maintenance. Highly recommended for repair and fixing those tough maintenance jobs you don’t have the time or expertise to finish.

I hired Junior and his team to install Govee Pro outdoor lights with tracks along my roofline, which has a lot of tricky angles and turns. They did an incredible job — everything looks clean, professional, and aligned. Junior showed up on time, worked efficiently, and even helped with a few extra repairs around the house. I’m thrilled with the results and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him for any home improvement or maintenance work.

Questions people ask

What is the Home Safety Visit and how much is it?

It starts at $250, labor only, and includes a basic safety assessment of the home and installation of up to two bathroom grab bars. Grab bars and other materials are not included. Anything beyond that is quoted before we start.

Can you install grab bars on a tiled wall?

Yes. We find the framing behind the tile or use anchors rated for grab bars, and drill the tile with diamond bits so it doesn't crack. A bar that moves is worse than no bar, so every one gets a pull test before we leave.

Where should grab bars go?

Where the person actually reaches when sitting down, standing up and stepping in or out of the tub. We decide it on site with the person who will use them, not from a catalog drawing.

Can you do a walk-in shower conversion?

Yes. Because that work usually needs a permit, it is contracted through our partner Bay Builder Inc, a licensed general contractor (CSLB #1145538). Grab bars, rails, handles and shower seats are done as regular handyman work.

My parent is coming home from the hospital soon. How fast can you come?

Call or text (650) 784-2770 with photos of the bathroom and the steps. Grab bars and rails are usually one visit, and we try to fit urgent ones in before the person gets home.
